Winter Blitz

Cold and clear, wet and windy, high and muddy or just steelhead green are all being experienced right now.
The winter steelhead run on the North Umpqua River is one of the healthiest on the entire West coast. Special regulations and people that care have helped to maintain this status.
Catch and release for all wild fish is a huge part of this success. If we wish to continue to see the benefits of this and the continued return of these beautiful specimens we need to take it seriously and release fish in the safest possible fashion. Educate yourself on techniques, crimp your barbs and be a conscientious angler so these fish can return to spawning beds with enough energy to complete their mission.
